The fishnet design, which adorns many of today's Herend figurines, took form in 1874. After observing an old porcelain plate with a design of a fish with intricate scales, the artist painted a rooster figurine, with a black fishnet pattern imitating feathers. Todays figurines are available with the fishnet painted from head to toe.
